THE SWEDISH ROYAL OPERA
KONSTEN ATT BLICKA FRAMÅT
The corona virus completely changed the idea of “business as usual” for The Swedish Royal Opera. With great sadness, the Opera, like many others, was forced to cancel the rest of the spring season. As a result we proposed a change of narrative from an otherwise bleak outlook to something positive, while redirecting all ticket sales to their newly launched Operan Play, increasing the amount of viewers with 630%.
“Since 1773, the Opera has not only experienced great love and success, but also overcome tragedies, pandemics and sudden death. We have done this by sticking to the arts. For almost 250 years, we have hoisted the curtain and literally put a silver lining to people's lives. With music and dance, we have given voice to history and celebrated progressive movements. We will continue to do so. In times of crisis and corona as well as peace and prosperity. Together with our audience, we will take one day at a time. Together with our audience, we will master the art of looking forward.”
